Cane Toads!

Detective Jack is still catching a few zzzz’s, so I’ve been whipping us up some grub for breakfast today. Ever since I woke up with a cane toad in my sleeping bag I don’t sleep as well! Cane toads weren’t always in Australia. They were brought in almost a century ago to clean up the bugs in the sugar cane fields. Well they have made themselves at home and now… Read More »Cane Toads!

The other side of the house continued…

Well last weekend I journeyed into the other side of the house armed with nothing but a torch….I heard a crash coming from one of the rooms.   I went to investigate only to find a strange little twiggy creature carrying a huge vase.  I shone the torch at him. “Watch it!” he shouted at me in a high pitched voice. “You almost made me drop it.” “What are you doing?”… Read More »The other side of the house continued…

Jackfruit!

Good afternoon chaps, its Detective Jack reporting from under a shady bottle brush tree. The Dog Detectives have stopped to have a little snack. I tell you cycling really works up an appetite, not that it is hard to get my appetite going. No cookies today, just fruit. Deputy Poco says my belly is expanding, so in my honour we shared some Jackfruit.  Can you believe they named a fruit… Read More »Jackfruit!

the Equator

G’day all, it’s Deputy Poco Loco on the go, writing from down under… It is mid-July now, the middle of the Australian winter and guess what? It’s still warm! Australia is south of the equator, that imaginary line that wraps around the world smack dab in the middle between the north and south poles. So while it may be snowing in Russia, everyone in Australia might be going for a… Read More »the Equator

The other side of the house

Hello! My Granny’s house is strange place – Granny Mag says it has been in the family for generations.   She only lives in one half, the other half is full of strange bits and bobs that my ancestors have collected.   I sometimes think they still live there, as sometimes objects move. Granny says that is Moptop, her cat, knocking things…But i’m not so sure.  I’m staying over this weekend, so… Read More »The other side of the house

Loretta’s Book Reading

Permission given for use of this picture Hi everyone, Loretta’s reading went really well.  The kids listened excitedly as she read the story and after wards they enjoyed colouring in the Sonny the Sea Tractor colouring in sheets.  There were so many bright Sonny’s to choose from.  I may have to paint myself another bright colour. Well done to the two classes at Drayton Park School! We’re getting even more… Read More »Loretta’s Book Reading

Sanchez the worm

Hello fellow superheroes! Isn’t summer great? You can spend loads of time in the garden keeping all the baddies away!   Me and Dixie were watching Dad put new grass down. He was busy digging and piling old mud into a box ready for the tip when suddenly – OH NO! In the box we noticed Sanchez the worm trapped! Sanchez is a superhero friend of ours who helps in the… Read More »Sanchez the worm

Tim Tams

Greetings all. It’s Detective Jack reporting from the baking hot Australian outback. My trusty side-kick Deputy Poco Loco has been complaining that we are cycling at a poodle’s pace. There are just so many fascinating animals to meet – wallabies, koalas and kangaroos. Just the other day a most friendly kangaroo stopped to chat and offered us the tastiest cookies of all – Tim Tams.  I just love that name,… Read More »Tim Tams

Cosmic Hat!

I was looking through my telescope last night and spotted a rather interesting group of stars.  I got straight on the phone to my friends at Nasa who, via the Hubble telescope, confirmed that it was indeed called the Sombrero Galaxy.  Any galaxy named after a hat is well worth a visit, so  I have packed my suitcase with a selection of cosmic hats and I’m planning to hitchhike there… Read More »Cosmic Hat!
