‘Thoughtfully designed’ The Learning Hub samples our new pink and red band Early Readers!

The Learning Hub at the University of Reading recently reviewed samples of our new red and pink band Early Readers which have just been published:

Some lovely new review copies from Maverick Arts arrived this week!

Bands are easily identified by bright, coloured stars on the front and back covers – here we have examples of the Pink and Red books.

The pink and red bands are suitable for children working at Letters and Sounds Phase 2 and there are a number of great features to aid reading, with each story focusing on a particular letter and group of high frequency words. Before the story begins children have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with key words, helping to increase confidence when approaching the main text and there’s plenty of scope for making simple inferences based on illustrations too.

Thoughtfully designed, these fun, brightly illustrated stories are short, accessible and feature themes and characters children will love! Our favourite was ‘On the Log’, which plays with the traditional rhyming sentence ‘the dog sat on the log’ by having all the other animals join in too!’

Have a look at the whole reading scheme here, read the full review here and look out for more blue and yellow band Early Readers coming in August!
