‘Just right for snowy, wintry days’ Kirkus Reviews enjoys some story magic in The Snowflake Mistake

Kirkus Reviews has published a great review for The Snowflake Mistake by Lou Treleaven with illustrations by Maddie Frost ahead of the US publication on 1 September of the beautiful jacketed hardback edition distributed by Lerner Books:

A British import presents a single parent and her child in a most unusual setting. Decorated in icy blues (even the queen and princess have blue-tinted hair), Frost’s patterned illustrations chill and swirl.  The vibrant cadence propels the story: “She hugs Ellie proudly. ‘You’ve been very clever. / I love the new flakes. It’s the best snowfall ever!’ ” Instructions for making paper snowflakes are appended. This buoyant picture book is just right for snowy, wintry days. ‘
